Updating FRITZ!OS of the FRITZ!Repeater
You can either install the latest FRITZ!OS for your FRITZ!Repeater quickly and easily by an online update or manually if an online update is not possible.
1 Performing an online update
- Click "System" in the user interface of the FRITZ!Repeater.
- Click "Update" in the "System" menu.
- Click on the "FRITZ!OS Version" tab.
- Click the "Find New FRITZ!OS" button.
- Click the "Start Update" button.
2 Updating manually
If an online update is not possible, for example when the FRITZ!Repeater is not connected to the internet, update manually:
Downloading the FRITZ!OS file
Download the FRITZ!OS file first. If you cannot connect to the internet via your own FRITZ!Repeater, you can download the file on a smartphone with a mobile network connection or on a computer, for example at a friend's house or at the office:
- Call up download.avm.de/fritzwlan/ in your web browser.
- Switch to the folder for your Mesh Set model, then to the subfolder "deutschland" or "other", and then to the folder "fritz.os".
- Download the file with the extension ".image" to the computer.
Deactivating the mobile network connection in Android
The following step is only necessary if you want to use an Android smartphone or tablet to perform the update. In Android, you can only access the user interface of the FRITZ!Repeater without internet access if the mobile network connection is not active:
- Enable airplane mode on the Android device to clear all connections.
- Only enable Wi-Fi on the Android device to establish the connection to the FRITZ!Repeater.
Installing the latest FRITZ!OS
- Click "System" in the user interface of the FRITZ!Repeater.
- Click "Update" in the "System" menu.
- Click on the "FRITZ!OS file" tab.
- Click "Save Settings" and on the FRITZ!Repeater, confirm that the procedure may be executed, if you are asked to do so.
Note:Save your FRITZ!Repeater settings again under "System > Backup" right after successfully completing the installation. Then you can always restore a working configuration.
- Click the "Browse..." or "Choose File" button.
- Select the FRITZ!OS file you downloaded (image file).
- Click the "Start Update" button.
If you used an Android device to perform the update, you can deactivate airplane mode on the Android device again as soon as the FRITZ!OS update is complete.
