Changing the IP address of the FRITZ!Repeater

In the factory settings, the FRITZ!Repeater uses the IPv4 address 192.168.178.1 for the home network.

When you use the FRITZ!Repeater with a FRITZ!Box or another router, it automatically receives its IP address via DHCP from the FRITZ!Box or the router. To change the IP address of the FRITZ!Repeater, adjust the DHCP settings of the FRITZ!Box or the other router.

If you are using the FRITZ!Repeater as an internet router, you can change the IP address of the FRITZ!Repeater manually. This is necessary to

  • connect the FRITZ!Repeater with another FRITZ! network (LAN-LAN linkup) via VPN. The IP networks of both of the FRITZ! products may not be identical.
  • integrate the FRITZ!Repeater as a cascaded router in an existing network. The IP network of the FRITZ!Repeater and the other internet router may not be identical.
  • integrate devices into your home network that have fixed IP addresses specified by the manufacturer that you cannot change.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • The guest network of the FRITZ!Repeater has its own IP address range that was assigned by the FRITZ!Repeater and cannot be changed.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Repeater.
