FRITZ!Box reports: "The Wi-Fi module was not initialized correctly. Please disconnect the FRITZ!Box from power briefly and then restart the FRITZ!Box! (#0C01)"

The FRITZ!Box's WLAN LED flashes continuously. Wireless devices cannot establish a Wi-Fi connection to the FRITZ!Box and the following error message is displayed in the event log of the FRITZ!Box:

  • "The Wi-Fi module was not initialized correctly. Please disconnect the FRITZ!Box from power briefly and then restart the FRITZ!Box! (#0C01)"

1 Solution in a future update

We are working on a solution and shall correct this behavior with a FRITZ!OS update for the FRITZ!Box as soon as possible. We cannot give you a release date for the update yet.

Note:New updates are installed automatically if the option "Notify me about new versions of FRITZ!OS and install new versions automatically (recommended)" is enabled under "System > Update > Auto Update" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.

2 Workaround

Until an update that corrects this behavior has been released, you can either select a Wi-Fi channel or change the Wi-Fi standard from Wi-Fi 7 to Wi-Fi 6:

Setting the Wi-Fi channel

  1. Unplug the FRITZ!Box for 5 seconds.

Note:The FRITZ!Box settings are retained when you unplug it. The restart takes about 2 minutes. During this time, you cannot access the FRITZ!Box.

  2. Click "Wi-Fi" ("Wireless") in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  3. Click "Wi-Fi Channel" ("Radio Channel") in the "Wi-Fi" ("Wireless") menu.
  4. Enable the option "Adjust Wi-Fi channel settings".
  5. Select a channel for each frequency band from the respective drop-down list "Wi-Fi channel".
  6. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
