FRITZ!Box reports "FRITZ!Box does not have an internal clock"

Various FRITZ!Box functions cannot be set up. The message "FRITZ!Box does not have an internal clock" is displayed on the respective page and the date 01.01.1970 may be displayed in the event log.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Restarting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click on 'System' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Backup' in the 'System' menu.
  3. Click on 'Restart FRITZ!Box' and then on 'Restart'.

2 Setting up the time server

The FRITZ!Box is already configured for use as a time server in the factory settings. If you adjusted the FRITZ!Box's settings, re-enter a valid time server:

  1. Click on 'Home Network' in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on 'Network' in the 'Home Network' menu.
  3. Click on the 'Network Settings' tab.
  4. Click on 'Change Advanced Network Settings'.
  5. Click on the 'Time Synchronization' tab.
  6. In the 'Time Server Address' field, enter the NTP time server on the internet that the FRITZ!Box should synchronize its time with.

Note:Normally it is not necessary to change the preconfigured NTP time server 2.europe.pool.ntp.org. Alternative NTP time servers can be found here.

  7. Enable the option 'Use FRITZ!Box as time server in the home network'.
  8. Click on 'Apply' to save the settings.
