Using a second internet connection for internet telephony (PVC)

The FRITZ!Box can establish a second internet connection (PVC) for internet telephony (VoIP). If the internet telephony provider supports or requires this, the FRITZ!Box automatically establishes a second internet connection over your DSL line for internet telephony.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

  1. Click on "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click on "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click on the "Line Settings" tab.
  4. Click on "Changing the Settings" in the "Telephony connection" section.
  5. Click on "Connection Settings for DSL/WAN".
  6. Enable the option "Use a separate connection (PVC) for Internet telephony". If the option is not displayed, you either cannot use a second internet connection (PVC) with the line, or you have a special FRITZ!Box edition that was produced for a specific provider. Since these editions are tailored to the requirements of that particular provider, they do not always contain all of the options.
  7. If your internet telephony provider requires specific ATM settings, enter the values required by the provider in the "VPI" and "VCI" fields.
  8. If account information is required, enable the protocol used by the provider and enter the account information you received from your provider in the corresponding fields.
    • If no account information is not required, enable the option "No" and then the option "Obtain the IP address automatically (DHCP)".
  9. Click on "Apply" to save the settings.
