FRITZ!Box reports "A device with this name has already been configured"
When you try to configure or edit a port sharing, the following error message is displayed:
"An error occurred. Error description: A device with this name has already been configured"
Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.
1 Several network adapters use the same IP address
You cannot set up port sharing in the FRITZ!Box for devices that are connected to the FRITZ!Box using multiple network adapters or MAC addresses, but only use a single IP address for them. The FRITZ!Box does not support devices that use an IP address with several MAC addresses (for example a NAS system with two network cards).
2 Delete duplicate entries for the same name
- Click "Internet" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click "Permit Access" in the "Internet" menu.
- Click on the "Port Sharing" tab.
- Check whether there are several entries for the same name in the list of port sharings.
- If several entries are displayed for the same name, click the
(Delete) button next to all of the entries with the same name and confirm with "OK".
